Murder Mystery 2 Wiki — Knives, Trading & Role Guides
Every MM2 round hands out three jobs at random: one murderer, one sheriff, and a lobby of innocents trying to stay alive. The sheriff is the only innocent carrying a gun, the murderer hunts everyone else, and whoever survives the round takes the coins. Between rounds you unbox, trade and collect knives.

Read moreWhat is Murder Mystery 2?
Murder Mystery 2 is a Roblox social deduction game that has been running since January 2014. Each round deals out hidden roles: a single murderer who has to kill the rest of the lobby, a single sheriff who is the only innocent with a weapon, and everyone else playing innocent and simply trying to outlive the round.
Three Roles Every Round
One murderer, one sheriff and a lobby of innocents are assigned at random. Each role has a completely different win condition.
Hundreds of Knives
Knives are the collection at the heart of MM2, ranked by the community into common, rare, legendary, godly, ancient, unique and chroma tiers.
Trading and Values
The trade window is where collections grow. Value and demand are different axes, and community value lists are the shared reference.
The Dropped Gun
When the sheriff dies the gun falls to the floor and stays usable, which is how an innocent can still save the round.
The twist is the gun. When the sheriff dies their weapon drops on the floor, and any innocent standing nearby can pick it up and finish the job, which is why the best sheriff plays are cautious and the best murderer plays are patient. Coins earned from rounds pay for knives, guns, effects and emotes, and outside of rounds MM2 is a collection and trading game built on hundreds of knives.

Knives At A Glance
The knives players ask about most, with their community tier, how they are obtained and the note that matters before you trade for one.
The Three MM2 Roles
Every round is built from the same three roles plus the dropped gun that changes the endgame.
Innocent
Best Play: Watch behaviour, keep distance and grab the dropped gun when it is safe
Sheriff
Best Play: Hold the shot until the read is certain and never fire into a crowd
Murderer
Best Play: Pick isolated targets first and stay out of the sheriff sightline
Dropped Gun
Best Play: Reach the gun before the murderer does, then re-read the lobby
Endgame 1v1
Best Play: Bait the first move, use audio cues and keep a clean sightline
Guns At A Glance
The sheriff weapon decides rounds; the rest of the gun catalogue follows the knife model of unboxed skins, bundles and community values.
Maps In The Current Rotation
Map knowledge is the quiet skill in MM2. These are the maps players report in the live rotation, with the layout note that changes how a round plays out.
Bank 2
Best Play: Hold the long corridors but rotate early once the sheriff is down
Bio Lab
Best Play: Play close angles and use the room breaks to escape a chase
Factory
Best Play: Break line of sight behind machinery and re-approach from a side lane
Hospital 3
Best Play: Learn the corridor loop first, then use the side rooms to hide
Mil Base
Best Play: Cross open ground only when the sheriff is watching another lane
Murder Mystery 2 FAQ
How do the three MM2 roles work?+
Each round assigns exactly one murderer, exactly one sheriff and everyone else as an innocent. The murderer wins by killing the lobby before the timer ends, the sheriff wins by shooting the murderer, and innocents win by surviving. When the sheriff dies the gun drops on the floor and any nearby innocent can pick it up, so a round is never decided the moment the sheriff falls.
How do you get knives in Murder Mystery 2?+
Most knives come from mystery boxes opened with keys earned through play, and limited-time bundle game passes pair a godly knife with a matching godly gun and an effect. Trading is the third route and the fastest way to fill gaps in a collection. The game itself does not publish an official rarity list, so rarity tiers come from community value trackers.
How does trading work in MM2?+
A trade is built inside the in-game window from both players inventories. Community value lists are the shared reference, but value and demand are different: a knife can be expensive and still slow to move. Never trade outside the game window and never follow a link from a trader, because the recurring scams all start by moving the conversation off-platform.
Which maps are in the MM2 rotation?+
The rotation reported by players includes Bank 2, Bio Lab, Factory, Hospital 3, Hotel 2, House 2, Mansion 2, Mil Base, nStudio, Office 3, Police Station, Research Facility and Workplace. Maps are numbered by revision because earlier versions such as Bank 1, Hospital 1 and 2, Hotel 1 and the original Milbase were retired. This list is community-reported rather than an official published table.
Are MM2 game passes worth buying?+
It depends on which model you want. Bundle passes ship a godly knife, a matching godly gun and an effect, single-weapon passes sell one weapon, and EVO knives start at Rare and evolve as you earn XP while using them. Battle passes reward play instead of spending. The pass text itself warns buyers not to delete a game pass and notes a second knife copy can be bought in the in-game shop.
What did the Halloween 2026 MM2 event add?+
The Halloween 2026 update brought the Emberscythe, Emberbow and Embersickle weapons along with the Mortal Knife and Immortal Gun, plus a battle pass, an event mystery box, a Bingo Board, daily quests, trophies and lobby secrets. Event rewards arrive through several routes, so it is worth comparing the bundle price against the unboxing and battle-pass routes before spending Robux.
How often is Murder Mystery 2 updated?+
MM2 has been live since 18 January 2014 under developer Nikilis, and its cadence is event-driven rather than weekly: the biggest content drops land around seasonal events. The October 2026 snapshot puts the game at roughly 31.4 billion visits with about 270,000 players online. Smaller balance changes can land between events without a full patch note.
